Put Your Refund Check Towards Something of Value!

Did you get a decent size tax refund this year and debating about what to spend it on? You could go out and have yourself a nice shopping spree but, do you really need more clothes or stuff around the house? Probably not. The smart thing to do would be to use it for something that is going to benefit you in the long run. Put it towards your car!

If you’re like most people, you probably don’t get maintenance done on your car as often as you should. Well, if you’ve ignored preventative maintenance for long enough, you probably know what happens as a result of that — expensive problems to fix later. It’s called “PREVENTATIVE maintenance” for a reason. Doing preventative maintenance can save you a world of problems in the future. Each car is different but basic things like getting your oil changed, replacing the filters, checking fluids, getting the tire pressure checked, and getting scheduled inspections for larger things are pretty much standard. It’s the equivalent of eating healthy, exercising, and going to the doctors for checkups; it keeps you healthy and catches potential problems before they get serious.

If you are going to try to do maintenance yourself, you should first read the owners manual. This will give you the actual specs you need to take care of your car instead of just assuming or listening to generalized information. Other than seeing if you’re using the right kind of gas and oil, you can see when to replace certain filters, the timing belt, etc. A lot of people avoid opening the manual until they have a question about the radio or where their spare tire is. You wouldn’t buy expensive technology for your house without reading the manual so what’s the difference? Just because you already know how to drive, doesn’t mean you know everything about how to properly work your car. If you don’t trust yourself to do the job or don’t have time, C & G Truck and Auto will be happy to do the job for you.
