Car Maintenance Tips For The Summer

The weather is heating up and summer is almost here! Here at C&G Auto & Truck, we want to make sure you aren’t stranded on the side of the road in the heat of the summer! That’s why we’re here to tell you a few car maintenance tips for the summer to help keep you safe on the road this season!

Change Your Oil + Oil Filter

Neglecting to change your oil and oil filter, especially in this heat, can cause more damage to your car than you might think! The hot weather puts your car under more stress which can put more pressure on how your car uses oil and how effective the oil filter is. By remembering to change your oil every ~3,000 – 5,000 miles, you can ensure your car’s engine has the lubrication it needs to perform.

Check Your Fluid Levels

Make sure all your fluid levels are at the appropriate level. This includes power steering fluid, coolant, windshield wiper fluid, and transmission fluid. It’s most important to make sure your car has enough coolant in it – especially before it gets too hot. Overheating is one of the main causes of breakdowns in the summertime! Always check your fluid levels!

Check Your Tire Pressure

Depending on the weather, your tires’ air pressure can increase or decrease. This can cause under and over inflated tires – which can become a safety hazard if ignored. Low tire pressure can also cause your tires to wear down faster than normal. Try keeping a tire pressure gauge in your car so you can periodically check!

Overall, these are just a few tips to help you stay safe on the road this summer. Our team of car mechanics here at C&G Auto & Truck is here to help you keep your car in the best condition possible!
