What You Need To Do To Care For Your Vehicle During The Winter Months

We have seen the cold temperatures the last few weeks! Keep your vehicle up to date with these routine maintenance tasks:

Replace Your Wiper Blades:

When the ice forms on your windshield overnight, the best thing you can do is to replace your wiper blades. With the rain and ice we get down here, it could wear down your blades, making it difficult to see on the road. You should replace your blades before and after the winter season depending on the climate. Typically, changing your blades at least twice a year is the best way to keep your vehicle in tip top shape.

Oil Changes:

Cold weather can beat up your engine as well. Did you know motor oil thickens when cold, making it harder for the engine to turn over? Whenever you have the oil changed, replace the oil filter as well to ensure the system has the maximum amount of flow.

While the car is in the shop, have the radiator and heater hoses checked for cracks, leaks, or contamination from oil or grease. The hoses should be firm yet pliable when you squeeze them. Scrap them if they feel brittle or overly soft.

Tires:

Spinning out or hydroplaning is not the best way to find out you need new tires. Tires are a main safety component when operating a vehicle. Your vehicle depends on tire traction to operate. Big drops in temperature can cause your tires to lose air. Keeping tires on your vehicle with the right amount of tread, that are inflated to the proper capacity can keep you safe while driving this winter.
